A Private School with a Unique Approach
Our learning community was formed at a time when democratic schools, Montessori, and Waldorf education were not yet recognized in Portugal,.
Our small-scale classes (max. 12 children) ensure individual attention and an interest-based learning approach.
We operate as a private school without government subsidies, relying on parental contributions to sustain our community.
Portuguese curriculum
Teachers of Cerejeiras make sure your child complies with the Portuguese curriculum. This is obligatory.
Although private, we are not (yet) officially recognized as a school. Meaning that our students are registered as ‘homeschooling’.
The Portuguese Ministry of Education keeps track of the cognitive progress of every child. This is usually done by periodical visits to an assigned public school. Our students take a test at the end of each cycle. This is in year 4 and 6.

The Benefits of the Cerejeiras Method
Over the past eight years, our approach has proven highly beneficial for children and families.

Self-motivation and engagement through meaningful learning experiences.
-
A love for literature using living books instead of traditional textbooks.
-
Clear communication skills through narration and storytelling.
-
A strong foundation in art, music, and nature appreciation.
-
Independence, empathy, and social awareness.
